Forty two licenses have been issued in the natural gas sector where the NCC performs the regulation of 8 economic entities. The Natural Gas Exchange has been functioning since 23 November 2011, the operator of the Exchange is BALTPOOL UAB. On 9 November 2012 the NCC issued the license of the Natural Gas Market Operator to one more economic entity – UAB GET Baltic. On 23 September 2015 the NCC repealed the license of natural gas market operator BALTPOOL UAB.
In 2015, 4 licenses were issued for the supply of natural gas activity. At the end of 2015, one market participant was active in transmission activity, 6 – in distribution, 1 – in liquefaction, 20 supply market participants sold gas at the Natural Gas Exchange and/or under bilateral agreements, and 5 supply market participant sold gas only in the Natural Gas Exchange. One market participant acted as market operator. 5 market participants sell liquefied oil gas.
In 2015, the players operating in the natural gas import market imported 27,6 TWh of natural gas, the weighted average price of the natural gas import – 22,25 Eur/MWh.

In 2015, the volume of the natural gas transit reached 21,8 TWh. In 2015, in the wholesale natural gas market 26,8 TWh of natural gas were supplied. The quantity of natural gas supplied in the retail natural gas market was 7,1 TWh. In 2015, the quantity of natural gas transported via the gas distribution system equaled 6,9 TWh.
The revenues in 2015 earned from the operations of the natural gas transmission to customers equaled EUR 40,5 million. The biggest share of the distribution market (98,99 percent) is held by AB „Energijos skirstymo operatorius“. In 2015, the revenues earned from the distribution operatiors were as high as EUR 56,3 million. The revenues from natural gas supply – EUR 457,6 million.
The investments in the natural gas sector in 2015 totaled EUR 64,3 million, from this amount EUR 49,4 million were invested in the transmission, EUR 15,8 million – in the distribution.
