ACER consults on the cross-zonal capacity allocation methodology for the exchange of balancing capacity in Baltic capacity calculation region

National Energy Regulatory Council (NERC) informs that on 12th of April 2021 European Union Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) launched a public consultation on the cross-zonal capacity allocation methodology for the exchange of balancing capacity in Baltic capacity calculation region, which comprises 6 countries: Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden.

The cross-zonal capacity allocation methodologies ensure efficient, transparent, and non-discriminatory capacity allocation for the exchange of balancing capacity or sharing of reserves. An effective allocation of the cross-zonal capacity contributes to the integration of the balancing capacity markets, facilitating the balancing capacity procurement at regional level, with consequential benefits for consumers.

ACER invites all interested parties to submit their comments by 2 May 2021.

The purpose of ACER shall be to assist the regulatory authorities in exercising, at Union level, the regulatory tasks performed in the Member States and, where necessary, to coordinate their action and to mediate and settle disagreements between them.
