The Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER), of which the National Energy Regulatory Council (NERC) is a member, is launching a public consultation on its 2023 Work Programme (the document can be viewed here).
Each year, CEER prepares a Work Programme to meet the challenges posed by energy market developments and to identify themes that would strengthen regulation and improve the functioning of energy markets for the benefit of consumers.
The draft Work Programme for 2023 is based on the Empowering Consumers for the Energy Transition Strategy, which has been in force since this year and will be implemented by 2025.
CEER's priority areas of work for 2023 are:
- Consumer-centric design;
- Energy system integration;
- Sustainable and efficient infrastructure;
- Well-functioning markets;
- Flexibility;
- Decentralised and local energy; and
- Significant recurring work.
CEER seeks feedback from energy supply market participants, electricity and gas consumers, industry, consumer groups, network operators, Member States, academics and other stakeholders on the priority areas of the proposed CEER Work Programme 2023 and the results of the envisaged work activities.
The public consultation on the CEER 2023 Work Programme is open until 12 August 2022.
